Once a month on a Sunday morning, we run a family zazen session in the zendo on Hope Street. This informal meeting involves meditation, discussion, simple ceremony and a variety of mindfulness and Buddhist themed craft activities. The session is open to adults and children of all ages, including sangha members and those attending for the first time. Meditation periods are short and will vary in length depending on the ages of children attending. Instruction is given for those attending for the first time and the sessions are about planting the seeds of awareness of a spiritual practice and building relationships in the community, rather than getting children to sit still for long periods of time.
The monthly dates are always on a Sunday and are advertised on our weekly schedule email. You can subscribe to this here [insert link to appropriate page]. The sessions begin at 10:30 and run until midday.
If you are interested in finding out more or would like to attend, please contact Colin Shinjo at colin.salmon@gmail.com
Please note that the sessions are not drop off activities and all children attending must be accompanied by an adult who will be practising alongside them. For those attending without a standing order to StoneWater Zen already set up, a donation of £5 per child is suggested.
