Shuso Hossen is a ceremonial rite-of-passage marking a student’s transition to a Senior which takes place at the end of a period of intensive residential training. At shuso hossen a student gives their first dharma talk and their understanding is tested by the sangha in a ceremony of challenge and questions known as dharma combat.
