Manu Daishin Bazzano – The Affect Therapy Manifesto

Manu Daishin Bazzano Sensei, one of our teachers within Stonewater Zen Sangha, has a new book out.

“Psychotherapy has lost its way. It is no longer involved with individual, socio-political, and spiritual transformation. It has bent over backwards to the demands of neoliberal ideology, a warped worldview that sees humans as cogs in the wheels of the market, an entity that neoliberal propaganda describes as neutral, impersonal, and unrelated to the greed of hungry ghosts – billionaires and the corporations among them. In short, psychotherapy has become corporate.
The Manifesto present a revolutionary approach to working with human experience and the psyche: Affect Therapy. It brings together and capitalizes on innovative aspects of psychoanalyisis, on Zen practice and philosophy, on Butoh, dreamwork, daimonology, affect-based supervision, and postqualitative research. The result is exhilarating and offers ways out of the current impasse.
To turn pleasure into desire. To turn sad affects into joy, and joy into the foundation for ethics: these are the bases for affect therapy’s wider applications. To turn passive forces into active forces: this is at the heart of the affect therapy project.” Available on Amazon
