We have been contacted by Ciska Shizuka Matthes, who started her Zen pracrice with Genpo Roshi’s Kanzeon Sangha in the 1990s, about a book she has recently published about her Zen training in Japen. We are sharing the information here in case of interest to you.
She says “Last year, I published the translation of my book in English, called ‘Buddha Sees Everything’ about my years in the Japanese temple Bukkokuji, its fiery master Harada Tangen and the many challenges and joys of Zen training. This adventure actually started in the Kanzeon Sangha in 1998. When meeting two Japanese monks during sesshin with Genpo roshi, I learned about a temple in Japan with a great living Zen master: Harada Tangen, with whom even Maezumi Roshi himself had trained. Soon after that, I traveled there and lived at Bukkokuji temple for six long years.”
