‘Being and Doing’ by Jez Yushin Lovekin

When I was born I just was
I was happy to be just who I was
After a while this was not enough
I wanted to be who I wasn’t

And so I worked on who I wasn’t
Hoping it would be enough
But when I got to who I wasn’t
It wasn’t what I wanted

And so I tried even harder
to get to who I wasn’t
and finally got to where I wanted
It still was not enough

And so I cried “Enough!”

And went back to who I was.
